Security and Accessibility

Network Security and Design – ROMEO is built using Microsoft Patterns and Practices and employs the most current security inside the application and between tiers.

Role-based Access

Identity Management – ROMEO accepts token credentials from 3rd party systems and uses plain text and SSL encryption for direct login to the Research Portal.

Role Based Access Management – ROMEO is accessible via any standard web browser and transmits data using SSL (Security Socket Layer) connectivity. Data and system access is furthermore protected by 5 levels of user permission security to ensure that confidential information available only to the right people at all times. System Administrators (Super Users) define ROMEO profiles and establish precise module, role, group, user and even file-based access.

Hosting Environment

Managed Security Services – Process Pathways takes data privacy and security very seriously. We use a Canadian-based data centre which is physically isolated from everyone, excluding bonded facility maintenance engineers and data centre technicians. Access to the data center floor is restricted by pass cards as well as biometric scanners. Furthermore, the data centre is under 24/7 video surveillance internally and externally.

Monitoring – Your Romeo solution, including routers, switches, UPS systems, servers, power, temperature and humidity, generator status, network connectivity and all critical services, including FTP, HTTP, SMTP, HTTPS, SSH and POP3, are monitored around the clock.

Intrusion Protection Services – Firewall and Virtual Private Networking (VPN) services are built on state-of-the-art Juniper ISG technology. This enterprise-class security solution uses the latest Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) technology to enable wire-speeds for advanced security features, including stateful packet inspection firewalling and client-based and site-to-site VPN services.

Abuse Management – Our data centre team works proactively with its upstream providers and clients to deal with network abuse issues employing strict Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) that governs its network and protects the integrity of its service. DDoS management occurs in concert with upstream providers and Prolexic – the industry leader in DDoS protection services.
